Towards the end of 2015 it became apparent that a crisis was building; refugees escaping from conflict and persecution in the Middle East and elsewhere, were fleeing to an ill-equipped Europe.
The crisis continues today with thousands of refugees stuck at borders, at inhospitable camps, or homeless and living in makeshift shelters, with inadequate food, water, shelter and clothing. If they make it to the UK they continue to be faced with many obstacles in the search for new and safer lives.
Refugees are not just numbers – they are individuals like us. They had homes, careers, and social lives; they have children like ours who played sport and laughed with friends; they had promising futures, hopes and dreams, and they need our help.
